SADI-S is a modern variation of the traditional duodenal switch. It’s designed to deliver powerful, lasting weight loss with a simplified surgical approach.
The procedure is completed in two main steps:
First, we create a gastric sleeve, similar to standard sleeve surgery, but with a slightly larger stomach size. This helps patients eat less while still maintaining comfort and nutrition.
Next, the duodenum is divided and connected directly to the ileum (the lower portion of the small intestine). This creates a single intestinal connection, rather than two, and introduces a controlled malabsorption component that limits how many calories your body absorbs.
This combination of restriction and malabsorption makes SADI-S especially effective for long-term weight loss and metabolic improvement.
SADI-S offers several advantages over older bariatric procedures, including:
For many patients, SADI-S provides the results they weren’t able to achieve with prior surgeries or non-surgical weight loss efforts.
You may be a good candidate for SADI-S surgery if:
SADI-S is also frequently approved by insurance plans—even in cases where weight loss surgery exclusions do not apply. Our team will help you understand your coverage and guide you through the approval process.
