Reading Time: 3 minutes

If you’re considering weight loss surgery, you may be wondering what happens after surgery. What kind of support will you have once you go home from surgery? What happens if you fall off track with your weight loss?

We believe bariatric surgery is a tool to help our patients lose weight and reclaim their health, but it is only part of the equation. At McCarty Weight Loss Center, you’ll have a whole team of pre- and post-op support experts — from nutritionists and certified fitness trainers to doctors and therapists — who are here to help you lose weight on the customized program that works best for you. And if you get off track? We’re here to help you then, too.

Please Consider Our Post-Op Support Services

Nutritional Counseling

With our nutritional counseling programs and pre-packaged meal options, you can take the guesswork out of proper nutrition. Our nutritionists will evaluate your caloric needs, medical history and cardiovascular health and provide specific dietary recommendations to help you achieve your weight loss goal. And don’t worry — we know long-term dietary habits are created from eating foods you enjoy, so we’ll work with you to find a nutrition approach that satisfies your taste buds while helping you reach your goals.

Fitness Training

No matter how you slice it, exercise is an essential component of healthy weight loss. More important, however, is the opportunity to share your fitness experience with others in a healthy environment. It releases powerful endorphins in the brain and is a healthy and natural journey to happiness. We offer exercise physiology, certified fitness training and a well-organized exercise group to help you stay motivated and get fit. Our location near White Rock Lake was chosen because it allows patients to use the biking trails, walking trails, exercise stations and park to their advantage.

Support Group Meetings

We understand that our patients’ relationship with food is often a key factor in what led to their obesity in the first place. Your success is dependent on addressing your relationship with food and making healthy changes.

We hold regular meetings to discuss the role food plays in your life. In the simplest sense, obesity is a form of substance abuse. In fact, functional MRI brain imaging shows strikingly similar results for any kind of substance abuse, be it food, drugs, alcohol, gambling or shopping. With this understanding, we can arm you with the tools you need to succeed.

Weight Regain Support

Regaining weight after bariatric surgery not uncommon, but we realize that it is often a frustrating and defeating experience. Fortunately, you are not alone and there is hope. The emotional complexity associated with eating is an underlying force that can leads progressive weight gain. That’s why we offer a unique and innovative approach to get you back on track.

Weight regain can cause anxiety, and we assess other medical or anatomic reasons that can cause weight gain. This includes testing the metabolic rate, body composition, dietary and exercise habits and anatomy of each patient.

Body Contouring

After the dramatic weight loss that comes with weight loss surgery, you may notice excess skin or hair loss. We partner with Lakewood Aesthetics to provide body contouring treatments, including abdominoplasty and minimally invasive solutions such as SmartLipo, ThermiTight, ThermiSmooth, laser skin resurfacing and anti-wrinkle treatments. Hair follicle stimulation is also an option if hair loss occurs after weight loss surgery.
