Life-changing results can sometimes begin with a simple conversation. That’s what sets Total Wellness apart from most bariatric surgeons. We are here to listen. To learn your story. To become a part of your journey. And then, and only then, advise you on which weight loss procedure makes the most sense. Some bariatric surgeons call this a consultation. Dr. Dill calls it a conversation.
Each patient’s weight loss journey is a unique, individual trek in which one must carefully consider the various weight loss surgery options. Together, the Total Wellness team will listen, answer your questions, and help guide you through your options.
This option includes minimally invasive weight loss surgery with 2-3 cosmetic incisions with minimal downtime, for both primary and some revision weight loss procedures.
Total Wellness has the only weight loss surgery program in Texas to offer this innovative approach, and we feel confident it will follow in the footsteps of Dr. McCarty’s previous innovations with widespread acceptance within the field of bariatric surgery in the years to come.
If you don’t like pain, don’t like scars, and don’t like prolonged recovery from surgery, then you’ll love Total Wellness.
Long considered the “Gold Standard” of weight loss operations, a gastric bypass procedure creates a small stomach pouch that is reconnected to the small intestine. The stomach is reduced from about the size of a football to the size of a lemon, or 30cc.
The remainder of the stomach is “bypassed” along with the first port of the small intestine. This results in a reduced volume of food that can be ingested and limits intestinal absorption. Thus, it is considered a restrictive and malabsorptive operation, and supplemental calcium, iron, and vitamin B12 are needed.
Recent advances with the gastric sleeve operation have decreased the popularity of gastric bypass, particularly in the case of the Mini Sleeve®, which can be performed with fewer risks, faster recovery, improved long-term outcomes and with little need for vitamin or micronutrient supplements.
Put simply, the “perfect” weight loss operation does not exist nor has it ever. All weight loss operations have limitations and weight regain can occur for a variety of reasons. If this has happened in your life, we want you to realize that you are not alone, you haven’t “failed,” and help is available.
In addition, much has been learned about weight regain over the past few years and effective treatment options are now available.
Magnetic Surgery® is an attractive alternative to consider. Laparoscopic weight loss surgery can now be performed even less invasively with the use of magnetic technology.
Talk to your doctor to see if Magnetic Surgery may be right for you.
